Friday was a beautiful day, just cool enough , r pleasure. and an atmosphere in which mil itary duty could scarcely be called irksome, pervaded Camp Braddock. The usual routine of roll-clll, guard-mount and breakfast being over, the Duquesne Greys, with Young's Brass Band at the head, pro ceeded to the head-quarters of General Negley, and honored him with a serenade. The General appeared in front of the tent, and acknowledged the compliment in a very neat speech. complimenting the company upon their fine appearance and good behavior dur ing the encampment, and recalling many pleasant reminiscence= in his own experience with them dur'ng the Mexican campaign, mentioning the compliment paid the company by General Seott while on review on the island of Lobo=, when he said he had never seen a finer set of men in any company. The speech was received with three che,N, and the GrevE, then returned to their quarters. The number of vi=i tors seas not as large as on any previous day, but still there was a large attendance, and the characteristic good order of - the camp still prevailed. We think too much praise cannot be bestowed upon Gen eral Negley for the admirable manner in which all the details. of the encampment have been carried out, and the good feeling which perva ded the soldiery. • • . . At nine o'clock the companies were ordere out for parade and inspection, which occupie two hour. - , General No t 4ley inspecting th arms, many of which were found to be in ha condition. Next on the programme was dinner. whie being over, General Neglev and glad* came t the city, 'keying Colonel Lich?: in COLIIIIIIIIII and. shared the hospitality of Captain It. I Robert=. at his reEidencr. on Penn street. At about two o'clock, the Infantry arriv in the city by a train on the Pennselvanut Railroad, where't.hey were joined by the cav alry, who arrived about the same time. March ing down Penn street, they were net by Gem Negley and his staff, from C apt. 1:.d, , rt„i' house. The entire battalion now pr,e over the Hand street bridge to Allegheny, and marched to West Coinmon, where they were drawn up in line. The German Turner Ride Company appeared on parade for the tirst time since the beginning of Camp Braddock. A salute of elev en guns was now tired by the MonongaLeht Artillery, and after a few evolutions, the order was given'and the troops retraced their steps again crossing the Hand street bridge, and marched down Penn street to Water, where they once more formed in line on the wharf, the right resting on Wood street, and the left . . on Smithfield. The General and his staff now rode down the line, and halting on the right, Capt. Roberta returned thanks, in behalf of the Brigadier General. for the honor done him by the troop, the confidence reposed in him, and the many manifestations of esteem exhibited. Gen. Negley now announced that Camp Braddock had closed ; the order was repeated along the line; the respective bands struck up, and the companies marched off in different di rections—the city companies to their armories, and the remainder seeking their homes by the nearest routes, all pretty well fatigued with four days of camp duty. The Monongahela Artillery left on the evening boat for Brownsville, and all the visit ing companies left the city during the after noon. By dusk the sound of martial music was hushed, and Camp Braddock was among the remembrances of the past. FAYETTE Col'NTr RAII.nOAn.--The Union town Genius of Liberty says : The Business of the Fayette County Railroad from Counells villa to Mount Braddock, exceeds the most sanguine expectations of every body. Consid ering :the increase of travel in this direction in spite of the difficulties of reaching us which yet exist, our future prospects are of a most hopeful character. We have no doubt that when the road is finished through the travel upon it and the amount of freight it will carry will be such as no man has yet dreamed of. The road is approaching completion as rapidly as c.nild be expected. Mr. Robert liolr,g,ett has got through the long cui on the farm of Judge Ewing, about it mile from this place. The only heavy work now remaining is at the Sum mit, where there is yet about one hundred and fifty feet to take out. Mr. Chaney is confi dent of his ability to finish that•by the Ist of October. If he does so the road will be in op eration very shortly after. VALUABLE DISCOVERY .—A vein of cannel coal has been discovered on the farm of our friend, L. M. Speer, Esq., adjoining the town of Bellevernon. The vein is ten feet thick, and has been pronounced by Mr. Russell, of the North American Coal Oil Company, to be of good quality for the manufacture of oil. This discovery will give a new feature to the business of our valley, and a new impetus to the enterprising village of Bellevernon, and immediately be a source of wealth to the ener getic and industrious proprietor. A specimen can be seen at this office.—Monongahcia Re ublican. MR. CIIAS. HUTCHISSoIi, who was thrown cut of a bliggy at the mouth of Aiken's lane, while returning from the encampment on Thursday evening, 'Was brought to the city during the night, and-is now recovering, his injuries being less serious than was at first sup posed.
