THE LATEST NEWS
Pnii.ADELPIIIA, August 17.—The bark
Thomas DOM, which sailed from Porto Ca:
belle on the Ist inst., brings letters and pa
pers of that date, from which we learn that
General Falcon, heading the revolutionary
party, was a few miles below Port Cabello,
with live hundred men, and having joined
with the forces of General Guevara, was pre
paring to make an attack upon the place, which
is well barricaded, and supported by two hun
dred government troops and the national mi
litia. Tiee two main streets of the city are
protected by six pieces of artillery, and in case
the revolutionary party succeed, it will be after
hard lighting. The government vessels never
started out to prevent his landing until after he
wits safe ashore. One of Falcen's vessels was
taken: the other was broken to pieces. Since
landing, Falcon has had free coin nunication
with his friends in Porto Bello. A plan for
his entrance had been - fixed, but the arrest of
some of his accomplices prevented the treach
ery from being carried out..

WEEKLY REVIEW.
Carefully Revised and Corrected by our own
Commercial Reporter.
Prnsuaan, August 17th, Mt
We have fully :IS dull a week's butsiness - to record a
at the date of our last, but little improvement being
manifested in any department. The fall season is at
liand, and the prospects:we good for a fair average trade.
Now the sales are confined to a light retail and country
demand.
We have, during the past week, had fine growing
weather. giving much encouragement to formers. The
Corn and Potatoes are growing rapidly, and fine crops
of both may be expected.
There is !nom activity at the wharf. On Sunday we
had a smlden rise, which has- partially subsided, leas - -
e or six feet water in the channel. which has been
taken :Advantage of by a number of boats, which took
out gond cargos.
We note little change in figures since our last. There
is a slight decline in Flour, but a very trifling one;
sales still continue fair. In Grain awl other leading al - -
tales, there is no material alteration In prices.
In money matters there is little transpiring worthy
..1 160,uti4.11. The Bank statements show an increase
ie. and a decrease in loans and circulation. East-
erii exeinince is in dernand, and sells at V0i14 . 1,,1e premium
rind currency to outsiders.
The following comparative statement is m'ads up from
