A NEGRO DISCUSSION ABOUT: rAlo.—Genova,
the lovely village on Seneca Lake, furnishes
thelollowing specimen of Parliamentary rul
ing:
In the fairest village of Western New York
the "culled pussons," in emulation of their
white brethren, formed a debating society for
the purpose of improving their minds by the
discussion of instructive and entertaining top
ics. The deliberations of the society were
presided over by a venerable darkcy, who per
formed his duties with the utmost dignity pecu
liar to his color. The subject for the discussion
on the occasion of which we write, was—
What am de mudder ob de chickens—de
hen wet lay de eggs or de hen wet hatch de
chicks ?
The question was warmly debated, and
many reasons pl,•o and .on were urged and
combatted by thh excited disputants. Those
in favor of the hitter proposition were evidently
in the majority ; and the President made no at
tempt to conceal that his sympathies were with
the dominant party. At length an intelligent
darkey rose from the minority side, and beg
ged leave to state a proposition to this ef
fect :
t'..
"Spose," said he, " dat you set ono dozen
duck eggs under a.hen, and day hutch, which
am de mudder—de duck or de hen?"
This was a poSer, was well put, and non
plussed the other side, even staggering the Pres
ident, who plainly saw the force of the argu
ment, and had committed himself too far to
yield without a struggle ; so; after cogitating
and scratching his wool a few moments,it bright
idea stauck him. Rising in his chair with all
the conscious of superiority, he announced :
" Ducks am not before de house; chickens
am de question : derefore I rule de ducks out:"
and d o it he did, to the complete overthrow of
his o pponents.
" THE candles you sold me last night were
very had," said Scott to a tallow chandler :
" Indeed, sir, said he, "I am Very sorry for
that.' Yes, sir, do you know that they burnt
to the middle, and then wouldn't burn any
longer." You surprise me! What, sir, did
they go out ?" Oh, no, sir." What then?"
"They burnt shorter."
OLD GENT.—“ Why don't you go to work
and stop picking your nose""
Boy.—lt's my nose, ain't it?' and its the
Fourth of July too. I'll pick thunder out on't
if I've a mind too.

THE CORALITE AND PORCELAIN
TEETH have now been extensively tested by the
citizens of Pittsburgh, and the verdict in their favor is
unanimous. Many have laid aside teeth mounted on
Gold plate to avail themselves of the improvements
embraeed in these new antlbeautifulstylesof Dentistry.
Their superiority consists mainly In their perfect edltil•
tatiun to the mouth—their perfect cleanliness, being
without crack or crevice for food to find lodgment, =id
made of a material on which the juices of the mouth
cannot act; they are free from all metallic taste, eorro.
sion or tarnish and du not efleet the breath, which is a
great desideratum, as nil who wear Gold, Silver, Platt
mini or other 'Metallic Plate, can testify.
also combine great strength with lightness, corn
fort and elegance--t this with their close resemblance to
natural teeth render them the most desirable British+
tut:, for those organs ever offered. An examination
will fully confirm all that has been said in their praise.
