Stebbins, are becoming very popular. We clip the following well merited notice of them from the United Presblltcriaii. Dr. Kerr speaks from experience in this mat ter, having laid aside gold plate teeth to try Coralite, and the result seems to have been very satisfactory: Among many improvements in dentistry is the insertion of teeth on plates prepared from the material designated above. Nothino. can be more beautiful of the kind, or more cfosely reSet i nbling nature, than teeth set in porcelain. And then the material is absolutely pure, and is incorruptible, by the acids of the mouth, which sooner or later affect metallic sub stances. The coralitc plates are not so beauti ful as the porcelain, but in other respects are as excellent. They are, perhaps, more com fortable and durable. This style of work has been introduced here by Dr. Stebbins, tato of New York. who, at his office (No. 191 Penn street), is successfully applying it. We have the pleasure of using some of his corulite work, and can testify to its comfort and adaptation to all proper uses of the teeth. We have never had so comfort able a use of the mouth, and of the vocal or gans, since we lost the teeth which God gave us. Another important consideration in their favor is economy. V/ DOCQ, THE FRENCH DETECTIVE.—WO have received from the publishers, Messrs. T. B. Peterson SI - Co., through their Pittsburgh agents, Messrs. Hunt & Miner, who have the work for sale, a copy of a neatly bound book, entitled the " Memoirs of Vidocq," written by himself, and illustrated by Cruikshank. doeq, it will be remembered, was the chief agent of the French police, and the present volume is a truthful autobiogrophy, fospiing a very interesting narrative. Replete with as tonishing incident and instructive moral, it af fords for the lovers of romance all that the wildest taste could desire of hair-breadth es capes, imminent dangers, thrilling horrors, and powerful description. For the amateurs of fun, there are sketches as comic as humor can devise ; and for the reflective reader, who, not content with the mere detail of events, searches into the motives, and philosophizes on the wit or weakness, power or puerility of the human mind, herein will be found ample scope for his most meditative musings. Purchase a copy and read it. RECOVERED.—George W. Arnold, who, it will be remeMbered, was robbed of his watch, money and valuables, on board the steamer Forester, between Cleveland and itutralo, two weeks since, has recovered the articles, as we learn from the Clarion Democrat. The money was found on board the boat, in .a roll of leath er, and the watch under a bucket. It is thotight that chloroform had been administer ed, as Mr. A. had taken the precaution to fold his pants in a blanket, both of which he had carefully placed under his head, and noticed no change as to position until he lifted them in the morning, when he instantly discovered they were too light, as the money was in gold f . tp4 his watch a heavy one. His_ loss is not more than thirty or fort:), dollari. The book contained a note on Messrs. Clink iSz, Co., of this city, which was also recovered. THE Cincinnati excursionists arrived at Al toona, on Tuesday night, at nine o'clock, and were met by a large- assemblage of citizens at the, Logan House, where they afterwards par took of an excellent supper, prepared for them. They returned to Altoona, and proceeded to Philadelphia on the mail train at eight o'clock, in charge of gen. Ituinfort, Superintendent of the middle division of"the Pentisyrvtiniti Rail road, which eompany his, throughout this ex cursion, acted with a praiseworthy liberality. The conference between France and Austria Was to assemble at Zurich in the course of a week. The discontent in regard to the terms of peace are unabated, and the explanations of the Emperor Napoleon are not considered as reassuring. The Sardinian representative to the Zurich Conference hue not been named, and it is ex pected that none will be present, but that Sar dinia, if pleased with the terms agreed upon, will acquiesce in the Austro-French arrange ment in a separate article. It is affirmed that Sardinia has signed nothing but the armistice, and consequently is in a nominal state of war with Austria. It is supposed that an European Congress will assemble after the adjournment of the Zurich Conference. The exhibition of discontent in Italy to the terms of peace continued.
