PROPOSALS FOR ARMY TRANSPOR
TATION.—ProposaIs will be received at the Quar
termaster General's Office until 12, M., on the lot depot
October next; for the transportation of military supplies
during the year 1360 and 1861,0 n the following routes:
1. From Forts Leavenworth and Riley in the Teni
tory of Kansas, from Fort Laramie, in the Territory' of
Nebraska, or from any point on the west bank of the
Missouri river north of tort Leavenworth and south of
latitude 42 deg. north at which a depot. may be establish
ed, to the posts which are now or may be established in
the Territory of Nebraska north of latitude 44 deg. north,
in Oregon south of latitude 44 deg. north and east o f
longitude 114 deg weid, and in the Territory of Utah
north of latitude 40 degrees north and east of longitude
114 deg. west.
2. From Forts Leavenworth and Riley in the Territo
ry of ; Kansas, and from the town of Kansaa in the State
of Missouri, to Fort Union in the Territory, of New Mex
ice,or to any titheedepot thatmay he designated in that
Territory.'

The weight to be transported each year will not be less

Proposals will state the rate per hundred pounds per
hundred miles for which the transportation will be per
formed on each route in each month of the year, and

of them, or for each route separately.
Bidders will give their names In full as well as their
places of residence, and be prepared to execute bonds
with good security in such an amount at the Quarter
master General may determine.
Contracture must be in readiness for service by the
Ist day ofJannary,ls3o; and as transportation may be
demanded at any time for the whole weight to hi trans-.

they will be required to have places of basins or agen
