The seventh minuaLexhibition of the United States Agricultural Society will be held on the grounds of Mr. Graves, at Cottage_ Grove, near Chicago, from the 12th of September to the 17th inclusive. Col. Capron ; Superintend ent, is now engaged in erecting the necessary buildings, &c., and has already 200,000 feet o f lumber on .the ground. The premium list reaches about $15;000, to which are to be ad ded volunicei premiums by the citizens of Chicago. The cash premiums range from $lOO to $5. There are 128 classes of premiums, embracing everything in agriculture, science and art, worthy of merit. Entries can be made from the sth to the 12th of September at noon. Persons intending to exhibit must be come annual members. The premiums are to be paid on the last day of the fair, , or the week thereafter at Chicago. Sales may be made by exhibitors during the fair, under regulations prescribed by the Superintendent. War and Commerce. The British trade and navigation returns for the month of May exhibit manifeStly the de pression which the political disturbance of En rope has caused to commerce. The plough share has shrunk before the sword; the arts of peace retire before the stoney aVance of war. The decline in the value of imports _for the month is considerable, amounting to more than .C. 2,500,000; and, judging from the gon orally diminished quantities of merchandise during June, there seems every reason to be lieve that the next. returns will sliciw a still di minishing value. Exports bays also consider ably fallen off—in fact, nearly £2,000,000, as compared with May, 1858, although the total for the four months still maintains an ascen dency of about £2,000,000 over that for the same period of 1857, and of £4,000,000 over 1856. The Iruli Steam Rain. The London Times gives a lung description of the new iron steam ram, which, it says, will be afloat nest .tune. Her total length will be 380 feet, breadth, 58 ; total weightat sea about .0,000 tons ; full speed 16 miles tin hour. About 2214 feet of the broad-side of the vessel will be of teak,24 inches thick; this will be covered by Armor plates 4l inches thick on the deck. The reel will be armed with 35 Armstrong guns, each throwing 100 pound shot over a range of six miles. The ram will run down ships by driving at them at full speed. If she only does one-half of what may be fairly anti cipated from her, she will be cheaper to the na tion than a dozen sail-of-the-line. The coif of the hull will be about .62,00,000, the en gines about £75,000, and her fitting fur sea about £45,000 more, or .020,000 in all. A amiatrut insurrection of the negroes of the villages surrounding Puerto Cabello, in Venezuela, broke out on the 15th of June. They ass , ssinated Goiquaza, a judge in the vi cinity, and murdered four other. peaceable cit izens. Afterwards they advanced with a force of two hundred and.fifty men to attack Puerto Cabello, but were repulsed by the troops sta tioned at that place. Since that time they have committed a number of outrages in the vicinity, and at lest accounts it was feared that they would yet return in suftleieet numbers to successfully rittaCk Puerto Cabello. The is said to be not a political movement, but a question et' blacks and whites.
