William Barnhill, Jr., sworn—Last night
learned titan Mary Delaney, had been killed;
went up, with officer Hague and Hamilton,
to the Birmingham bridge;. found.the body of
the woman lying in the bridge, about eight feet
from the bridge. Had been there some time,
When on looking at the body, I found - the
bunch of hair, lying in the folds of her dress,
underhor, entirelyloose from the head. Wrap
ped it up and gave it to Alderman Rogers on
the way home.
James J. M'Donald; sworn—Was returning
from, the city to Birmingham with another
young man, last evening at about nine o'clork.
As we reached the board walk near the bridge
it commenced raining, and we ran. When we
got to the torn, three or four persons were
standing there. They told us to stop, there was
a woman shot. We stopped, looked around,
seen the body: the blood was running from her
head quite freely, she was quite warm. The
body . - was lying abditt4ifteen feet from the end
of the bridge. We hail-been there but a short
time when some one proposed to carry her into
the bridge, out of the rain. The body we car
ried in. by four persons, and one started for the
M:ivor's office. An umbrella was found in the
middle of the roadq it was handed to me, and
I gave it to officer Jame: Reed.
