NUE
[From the Newaric 'Mercury, Jane _
The New Jersey Alillerites..Their. 'Time
Ended..
- *4.
Yesterday was tho utmost limit fixed by the
Second Adventists of this city for the continu
ance of ail earthly things. At the meeting of
these deluded people at Union Hall in' the
morning, one of the speakers saidthat it had
been announced in the newspapers that if-this
-day did not witness the end of the world, they
would give up their belief, and cease to hold
their meetings. This was an error. They in
tended nothing of the kind. lithe world did
not come to an end now, and he doubted some
what that it would, it would come "some time,"
and the meetings would be continued to the
end, that they might all be prepared when the
long expected event should take place. Ho
counselled' his hearers to be
,irt no wise cast
down, but to hold up their heads and look the
world square in the eyes. He firmly believed
that accordmg to the Scriptures, " time was
up." He had not prophetic vision, and there
might be so ne error in the calculation, but as
far as he could see it was high time for the
consummutian ofs all things in general and
everything in particular. The speaker said
that probably the next steamer from EuroPe
would bring some intelligence favorable to
their views, and enlighten 'them upon some
points which were heretofore very dubious.
Whether he meant that the world had caught
fire on the other side of the water, and that the
flames were spreading over theface of the earth
like the measles through a community, this de
ponent did not learn.
The speaker compared the present position
of those who were " rooted - and grounded" in
thepeculiar belief of the Second Adventists, to
the condition of the children of Israel, on com
ing, in their .journeyings, to the lied Sea.
There appeared to le no avenue of escape, but
God opened a. way, for them ; and he would
now relieve them from their present condition
of doubt and uncertainty, -through some such
miraculous agency. Much of this kind of ar
giiment was used, but it apparently afforded,
the leading disciples present but little satisfac
• lion, and they appeared as though they would
have much rather experienced the crisis at this
time. "Ilopedeferred mak - eth the heart sick,"
was literally tree in their case. The majority,
however, seemed to find great satisfaction in
the fact that the " end was not yet," and were
perfectly willing to " wait a little longer."
We suppose a new " cypher" will now be made
in order to ascertain wherein their calculations
had been in error, and we would suggest that
in figuring, the great beast with seven horns,
and the little beast with eleven oyes, into years
and days, that they substract from the grand
total the result'of the preSent war in Europe.
Everybody wants to know about that.

affections of the stomach and bowels, both of a costive

Pills. To tell you that I have paid two millions of dol

fact; and yet never was a truer word spoken. And
what is the result? Why, that about three million per
smis in the United States partially believe in the effica

from purgation in sickncsSl But what a field for phi
lanthropy-I What millions remain to be converted!
And let me say that this knowledge is second only to
Christianity in the benefits it is capable of conferring on
mankind. Let not medical men persuade you that
Brandeth's Pills are a quack remedy. It is no such
thing. What I sell you for two shillings, these men
could not supply for a dollar. My herbs and extracts
are all prepared in my own laboratory, where a steam

They.arc all made with the highest mechanical skill,
And all warranted to work well on all kinds of goods,
from the Lightest Fabric to Heavy Leather. In when-
Lat. we would call the attention of all to our new Family
Sewing Machine. It has been manufactured expressly
for Family Use, and has met with favor from all. It is
so simplified as to render it Almost impossible to net oat
of order, or derange its operations; indeed it is so sim
ple as to astonish one, that so small a piece of mechan
ism will sew. _ _ _
Below, we give a deseiription of the dilJerent styles of
the Weed Patent.
11, Is a very convenient style, which can be
worked by hand or foot, on or off its own table. For
convenience of shipping, and also for large manufacto

into a long bench, making one table answer for them
all. Price, riO. ,

or without Box. Top, which locks down. Price, .$lOO
and slln.
No. 3. Same size as No, 2, but runs with a belt, and
at a much higher rate of speed. This kind is well
adapted to manufacturing Clothing or Leather work.
This is malty the cheapest Machine in the market, as
there is no work dole on a Sowing Machine that it will
not do. It is confidently asserted that this Machine
runs easier than anir machine now in use. Price, $lOO.
Ne. 4. This machine has a long arm, to ACCOMMC+
date large work. It runs at a high rateof speed. runs
easily, and is, without doubt, the best Machine for Tail
or's use, ever offered to the public. It is also 'peculiarly
fitted for plantation work, as it is very simple yet sub
stantial and durable, with but little liability to get,out - bf
order. Price.SlZl
No. 5. This is a new and cheaper style. and a gen
eral favorite for Family, 'Light Leather, and a great
variety of work. It has been gotten up with reference
to furnishing a strong and durable, yet light and tasty
Machine, at a less price than either of the above. It
runs very easy. rapidly, and is pronounced the best
machine now in market, for Mt).
No. 6. This a Machine got up on an entirely new
principle. different from anything over before offered
to the publie, and we confidently :insert that for family
use it has not art equal. It is very light and tasty, runs '
very rapidly: is almost noiseless in its operation, and
Ilse:. a straight needle. It is so arranged as to be
utterly impossible to miss stitches. It has a tension on
both sides, and carries a large supply of thread on the
under spool. The motions are gained by two small
croaks that ran without perceptible noise. The two
threads are worked in such a manner as never to both
pull lit the same time, and consequently little liable to
break. The seam is very elastic, and the thread does
not break in washing. ft will o coarse work better
than any machine now in market, as it uses silk, cotton
or linen with equal facility. Price. Ato.

States, who will permit the drudgery of hand sewing in
his family, when a Grover Si Baker Machine will do it
better, more expmlitionsly, and cheaper than eon possi
bly'be done by hand. • .
Xfir Send for t Circular.
The first place in public . estimation is now justly ao
corded to the Grover ,t• Esser Machine, for family sew
ing, for the following.reasons:-Ist. Leis more
simple
and easily kept in order than any other Machine. 2d.
It makes a seam which will notrip or ravel, though every
third stitch is cut. 3d. It sews from two ordinary spools,
and thus all trouble of winding thread is avoided, while
the same machine can be adapted at pleasure,bv amere
change of spools. to all varieties of work. 4th, The same
machine runs silk, linen thread, common spool cotton,
with equal facility. sth. The seam is as elastic as tile
most elastic fabric, so that it is free from all liability to
break in washing. ironing, or otherwise. eth. The stitch
inatie by this machine is more beautiful than any other,
made either by hand or machine.
