by the editors during an entire week. The
principals—the chaps as write the lie4yy
ers—and the locals, might be seen at the station
watching, the arrival of every train, to see "who
was coming." But, alas! there must be au
end to all sublunary things, the brandy "gin
eout." The empty cask was rolled out, in do
ing which the head dropped out, and ]o! inside
were the remains of two deformed babies,
united together Siamese fashion ! The "pecu
liar flavor," of the brandy was accounted for.
The aforesaid editors have drank a double por
tion of mean whisky since, to wash that pecu
liar flavor out of their throats.-31adison,(hul. )

PITTSBURGH POST.
THE OUTSIDE DOG IN TUE EIGHT.
We lutveaLready printed two "dog" poems, ono about
the `underdog iu the fight," from the New York Poet
—one about the "upper dog," in answer to it, by Emir
friend John Smith. To-day John Jones wishee ghearitte
for the "outside dog in the fight :"
You may prate of your upper and bottom dog,
And blow an alarming sight.
nut, as I've found, the safest dog -
1s the outside dog in the fight.
He never desires lobe counted in,
Thus showing nu instinct bright;
He gIiVOA his grinders for polishing, bones;
Duos the outside dog in the fight.
Mr. Heenan In.sy try as icing as he likes
To damage his foeman's sight,
But the pleasant position of looking on
Has the outside dog in the fight.
Utterly heedless in the strife
The might prevail or the right,
The appetite's good and tranquil the life
Of the outside dog iu the fight.
•
When clangor threatens; the rapid way
That he runs is refeShiog quite,
Aud simply minces the sound good sense
Of the outside dog in the fight.
Then here's to his healthy and happy days,
Lurk send him abundance aprog,
And drink to•the hero otpriTate
A health to the outside dog.
IVIS learn that a ten-gallon keg of brandy
was found a week or so ago, in the Union R. R.
station at Indianapolis. It was unmarked and
unclaimed, and had lain in the station so long
that the oldest inhabitant • thereof did - not
know whence it came. The ten gallons had
not oven a " traditionary history." A prying
individual employed about the station, bored
a hole in the keg, drank, and pronounced the
contents to be line old French brandy; with a
peculiarly rich flavor. The editors of the pa
pers, nosinit around in search of items, found
this keg; they drank, pronouncing the liquor
good. The Union station was well. attended

Below, we give a description of the different styles of
the Weed Patent.
No. 1. -Ts a very convenient style, which mut be
worked by hand or foot, on or otf its own table. For
courunienee of chipping, and also for large mannfacto•

No. 3. Same size as N 0.2, but runs with a belt, and
at a much higher rate of 'speed. This kind is well
adapted to manufacturing Clothing or Leather work.
This is really the cheapest Machine in the market, as
there is no work done on a Hewing Machine that it will
not do. It is confidently asserted that this Machine

runs very cast', rapidly, and is pronounced- the best
machine now in market, for Nin. •
No. O. This Ls a Machine got np on an entirely new
principle, ditierent from anything ever beforo °tiered
to the public, and we confidently assert that for family
use it has not au equt. It is very . , light and fakery, runs
very rapidly: is almost noiseless t:4 its operation, and
uses 3 straight needle. It is so arranged as to be
utterly . impossible to tails stitches. It has a tension on
both sales, mid carries &large supply of thread on the
muter spooL The motions are gained by two small
cranks that run without perceptible noise. The two
threads are worked in such a manner its never to both
pull at tho same time, and consequently little liable to
break. The seam is very elastic, sad the thread does
not break in washing. It wilt do coarse work better
