A meeting of 2,000 persons’in Ber
lin was held here last Sunday night,
Resolutions favoring the suppression
of onvents and the expulsion of the
Jesuits were after long debate,adopted,

Baron von Beust closed the sessions

Foolhardiness.—A man named Jen-
| kins risked his life, the 25th ult, and
"did not lose it, in propelling himself
over a rope stretched acposs Niagara
River, below the Falls. He was sea-
ted in a so-called bicycle ‘velocipede,
the wheels of which were deeply groov-
ed so as to fit the rope. A large erowd

Herber C. Kimball, late Brigham
Youilg’s first counselor, have recently
filed, at Salt Lake City, a return of
distributive shares, subject to the reve-
nue tax, showing forty-one children—
thirty sons and eleven daaghters—five
being 14 years old, and four 10 years,
The value of his estate is = $59,000.
This is the first return of distributive
shares ever made in Salt Lake.
