Pine Grove Mills, June 1.—On 'ast Wed- nesday night, at } past 9, Erb’s Foundry Machine & Blacksmith shops were burnt up; the fire originated through the stack, all the manufactured work was saved, by | the exertions of a few neighbors, A great nmny patterns and dry lumber were burnt. Loss about $3000, divided between Jacob Erb, Jos. Erb and G. W. Murphy. No insurance. On Monday evening, 31st ult, had a heavy storm here; no hail; a house and stable of Jacob Markle were blown down; the family being at a neighbor's house, saved some, at least, from being killed. It was a log house, the roof and upper story are gone—part of the roof waz carried off by the storm a distance of over a mile. Fen- ces were greatly damaged, and fruit trees torn out of the ground. Mr. John Bailey, an old and respected citizen, died last Friday, from cancer in the bowels, age about 65 years, Daniel Stewart, the owner of Calerain Forges, a very wealthy man, died on Sat- urday last, aged 73 years.
