Last week we published a list of families |
moving west this spring, from the eastern |
portion of our valley. On Monday mor
ning last these peaple started from Mill-
heim, men, women and children, in spring
wagons, for Bellefonte, where they had a
ear engaged. The party passed thrcugh
‘ehtre Hall in the forenoon, on their con-
eyances, which strung out nearly one
ourth of a mile in length. We bespeak
or them a happy time on their journey.
The entire party numbered about CO.

MILROY.—It was rumored here
for the last few days, that a locomotive
on the rail road had exploded near
Milroy, the matter was not quite £0
bad, as we learn from the Lewistown
Democrat, that after the return of the
train from Milroy, on Tuesday after-
noon, whilst shifting cars near Spano-
ale’s tannery, Mr. May discovered that
one of the stop-cocks under the boiler
was leaking. He undertook to tighten
it with a wrench, when it suddenly
flow out, followed, of course, by a
stream of boiling water, which poured
upon his left arm and shoulder, and
splashed his face and neck.
TURNPIKE C.
KE CASFE.—The difk-
culty between the stockholders of the
Old Fort and Youngmanstown turn-
pike co., as to the legality of the late |
election and the continuation of the
tollgate beyond Old Fort, was argued |
before Judge Mayer, at Lock Haven, |
on last Tuesday ; the Judge decided |
that the new board was legally cho- |
sen, but has reserved a decision upon |
the removal of the gate, for further
consideration, Messrs, Orvis and Linn
for the old board, and M’'Allister and
Wilson for the new board.

FIRE.—The greater portion of Geo |
Swartz's steam foundry, at Hublers- |
burg, was destroyed by fire on Mon.
day evening last, about 9 o'clock. The |
light was plainly seen from Centre
Hall.

WEATHER.—The weather, every
