night. three prisoners, two negroes and
a white man, made their escape from
the jail at Bellefonte. They effected
their escape by breaking through the |
registers of their cells, and afterwards
through the register in the hall, and
from thence into the vard. They found
a ladder in the building by means of
which they got over the wall, On
coming to the register in the hall they |
found the fire below rather too warm
to venture down thus, and threw
some of the bedding down upon the |
coals to smother the fire, and then,
crept throug! .
This is the second time prisoners
made their escape from the new jail by |
breaking through the registers. We |
think the architect of the building did
not understand his business, otherwise
he would have known that his work |
would be defective in this particu- |

O PHYSICIANS:

Allow me to call vour attention to my
PREPARATION OF COMPOUND EX-
TRACT BUCHU. The component parts
are BUCHU, Loya Leary, OUBEBS, d Us
NIPER BERRIES,
Monk or Prerararrox.— Buchu, in va-
cue, Juniper Berries, by distillation, to
form a fine gin. Cubebs extracted by dis-
lucement by liquor obtained from Juniper
Jerries, containing very little sugar, n small
proportion of spirit, and more palatable
thun any now in use. The active proper-
ties are by this mode extracted.
Buchu, ns prepared by Druggists gene-
rally, is of a dork color, It is a plant that
onnts its fragrance; the action of a flame
destroys this (its active principle), leaving
a dark and glutinous decoction, Mine is
the color of ingredients. The Buchu in my
preparation predominates; the smallest
quantity of the other ingredients are added
to prevent fermentation ; upon inspection,
it will be found not to be a Tincture, as
made in Pharmacopoen. nor is it u Syrup
and therefore ean be used in cases where
fever or inflammation exists, “In this, vou

the mode of preparation,

with your approbation. With a feeling of
