A Wife Goes After Her Husband's
Dead Body and Finds Him the
Head of a New Household.
The New Orleans papers tell of an
unsoldierly trick, played by one Cap-
tain Huckle, formerly of Springficld
Massachusetts. Huckle cut a dash at
New Orleans early in the war, and
was a great ladies’ man.
larly the papers one day announced
his death, and the captain said it was
too good a joke to be contradicted.
Soon after; he married a New Orleans
lady, resigned his commission, and be-
gan speculating in cotton in which he
has been very successful. All went
smoothly until an unpleasant episode
occurred, which is thus narrated :
“A few weeks ago a Mrs. Huckle,
from Springfield, Mass., arrived in
this city for the purpose of conveying
the vemains of her husband, who died
in the spring of 1863, home for in-
terment. But surprising as it may ap-
pear, the grave of the deceased *could
not-be found. Almost in dispair she
appealled to the chief of the police for
information. The officer knew a man
of the same name, and it was barely
possible that he might be a relative.
Inquiries were set on foot, and the
street and number of his residence
were found. In company with the
chief the widow visited the house, and
was hospitably received by the rosy

Yeagertown, on the Lewistowr

a fine stock of Carriages, Buggies, Sulkies
and Spring Wagons, which he now offers
for sale as superior in quality and styles tc
any manufactured in the country. They

first class practical workmen, and fnisheg
in a style that challenges comparison with
any work out of or in the Eastern cities
and can be sold at lower prices than those
manufactured in large towns and cities,

anxious to excel in his artistical profession
and free from any annoyances in his busi-
ness, he has time and ability to devote his
entire attention to his profession and his
customers, rendering satisfaction alike te
all patrons, operatives, his country, and
himself.
