UseruL INvENTIONS. — Anything
that will simplify and make woman's
labor easy, is a blessing, and the in-
ventor deserving the richest reward.
Many have no idea of the burthens
hanging upon the lady who has the
management of the house, and often
does she break down under her duties,
witheut uttering a complaint, and
without the husband suspecting that it
all comes from overwork. One great
blessing is the sewing machine, saving
90 per cent. of time and labor. But
the wash-tub waited long for an in-
the mode of washing, and which would
save time, be easy upon the articles
washed and that would wash them
cleanly. This want, we are happy to
inform our lady readers, has been sup-
plied by the “American Champion
Washer,” which has all these merits,
and is very simple in its construction,
and by which a girl 14 years of age
can do the washing for an ordinary fa-
mily, in 2} hours, and do it well. Mr.
F. Glace, of Centre Hall, has pur-
chased the right of this washer, for
Centre county. We had Mr. G. give
his machine a trial upon a heavy pile
of all kinds of goods, in our family,
and in two hours the job was through
with, to the complete satisfaction of
our better nalf and the ladies of the
neighborhood who had come to see for
themselves—the work commenced at
1 o’clock, was finished at 2%, and rea-
ly for the smoothing-iron at dark,
On that day Mr. Glace went around
and did the washing for five families
in Centre Hall, rendering complete sa-
tisfaction.
