tion.
In the rate Or the Cdr.. v.. Mary Jane Jones,
Indicted for larcen), the jury this morning brought
verdict of acquittal. The court ordered the
discharge of the defendant. "

Thin is the case growing .out of the breaking
open of the rare if; noon de Sargent's office,
one Sunday morning, in last September. A great
number of witness.s were examined, to prove
that the defendants were teen running on the
morning in question, from the direction of HOOD
de Sweat's office, crying fire. The entry to the
office was made tb • ough a back door. Some of
the wilueues identified one and coma the other,
but none agreed upon both being the men. The
younger of the men seen running from the direc
tion of the office, on the morning in question, it
appears, had no coat on, and a coat was found in
be office. The coat was prodoced, and me young.

the defence proved, to some extent, an alibi.—
One of the witnesses, Dr. Chamberlin, who had
