The ri»c in the river is chiefly from the Monongkhela,
snd at present there is ao hosting ice in the Allegheny.

di£culty'was experienecd from floating iee, mostly
from the southern tributaries of tho Ohio; bat owiug to
lie'rece ntmiM weather, the floating masses of ice
bare been softened, and it it probable that the river
will soon be entirely clear.

ing of interest has transpired. In the way of small op
