day's performance In this line of action. Let it
caca at this time to say, that there have been
four trials to day, making thirty two from the be-

showed that nothing had been done to remove the
tlifficulues which had prevented the concerted
and united action on the part of the Democracy
during the past week. Judge Potter received ,
I the same number of votes that he did on the linea
l trial on Saturday—seventy six. On each of the 1
two following he received seventy seven, and
seventy eight votes respectively. Entibc dieter

been given to Mt. Cobb clearly enough showed
that the Southern wing were as far as ever from

struggle, mad:to widen the diviaions In the party to
which he belonged. He therefore withdrew from

Accordingly, upon the next trial, a large number
of the Southern members voted for W. J. Brown,
of Indiana, together with portions of thti Ohio,
Indiana, Illinois, and Pennsylvania and New Env,

It was a angrufimat indication that Mr. Holm.s, of

The New York Herald of the I lth instant rays,
great consteruanation was rope rienced by the
Dstrict Attorney and the Police department, on
the discovery that the °Tice of the District Attor

burglars, and almost all the important papers and
indictments stolen therefrom. The rogues, it
emus, entered the oseo with false keys, and then
turning open the closets, carried off nearly every
indictment and paper of Importance. All the Dru
