grateful acknowledgemenm to a kind protecting

We come to celebrate the event, and would en •
joy the present, by telling you of the part, sod

Last year's report gave an amount of a shot

tempting, as it were, the traveller and the lounger
to lock into the word of Life: The proprietors of!
all those Hotels heartiry - en-operated with us in this

to the fends of the Society. Those boles, as also!

Boats at our Basin—and our County Prison—have

From all these reports it, will be wen that the
whole amount of fonds raised by collections and
tales, is $1372,76, and that while there has been

has been a small decrease from sales.

from the private counting room of the Librarian,

ing still more liberally the word of God in foreign
lends, end we are happy to learn, that that reap
lotion has been fully carried out. And we are
also happy to learn that oar Parent Society has
determined to aid the American Bible Society this
year, for the same purpose, to the amount of
$3OOO. And your Board would also hope, that in
answerlo a call now made upon us by our Parent
Society, ouruest Board will come to her help by
'van a more liberal contribution than we did

The orphiution of the Territorial Government
toot place by the proclamation of the Governor
011 the first day of June. 011 the 11th of the same
mooth, by another proclamation, the Terntory
was divided into three Judicial District.

The first term of court was held in each of those
districts m the month of August, and a apecial
term is to be held in the third district on the fourth
Monday in February, 1650.

issued his proclamation to John Montan, Sherif
of St. Croix county, to take the muses of the tern-1
tory, making that day the date of the eolslmanicas .

Minnesota Territory Is bounded on the north by
the 40th degree of latitude which divides it m

the Oregon territory, from which it Is divided by
the Chippewa mountain. The river St. Csoix,
already famous for its nipids, its Mee threes and
lumber business, is the boundary from Wisconsin
on the South east.

ter's river, and mean. Turbid Waters; Minae be

The Territory contains an area of 168,000 square
miles, with cc large an amount of arable land, fit
for immediate cultivation, aa in most of the States,
it, proportion to its extern. Senior five large States
may yet be carved out of this immense territory.—
In the-south eastern section are immense pine for
ests, end directly in their midst the most abundant
water power for the toatintacture, of lumber, of io
future, every article of human comfort. Commen
cing shoot twenty five miles above the mouth of
the St. Peters, is a vast forest of bard wood timber
extending more than 100 mile. along that river,
and from twenty five to forty five miles wide.—
And judging from the history of all our new States
on the Miwassippi, as the country becomes explo
red and settled, a much larger proportion of
