He saw the coffin containing the remains of poor Tuttle there, sod his fears magnified el in another part of the grave yard into a Mator’* Office, Pittsburgh. April 28th.~Eight persons were brought before the Mayor this morn, tog, charged with drunkenness, and disorderly con duct This shows an increase of crime, as the Mayor for some days past, has bad nothing ot all to do. Theatre. —Mr Holland, the comedian, makes hi* first appearance 10-aigbt, m the “Day after the Fait.” Most Octraoeoc*. —We give below, a com munication from a very worthy and much respect ed citizen, with regard to the assertion made in tho Despatch, relative to the alleged refusal of the Rev. Mr. Paasavint lo lake poor Tuttle, who died at the house of Dr. Penniman, on Wednesday night, into his hospital. All we nave L> say in the matter, is, that the assertion of the Despatch is * positive falsehood, ao far as regard* the Rev. Mr. Passavam, who t# one of our most benevoienl citixens,-and that before giving statements of this kind, an editor should alwayi be sure that he is right. If the sisters of mercy refused to take Tuttle in, we ere rare that they had a good reason for it: . In the Dispatch of yesterday, a statement t* made, professedly on the authority of Doctor M’Crackeo—though nothing of the kind appear* in the Doctor's fetter —that Tuttle, the cholera patient, ,l was refused admission into Rev. Mr Pissavaat* Infirmary." On the atrength cl' this, the local editor uudertokes to read Mr. Paasavaat a lecture "for refusing to shelter and succor a dying fellow mortal,” and talk* of the sisters of mercy and him “not illustrating their faith by their works,* Ate. Now, it turns oat, however, that Mr- Pas savant was never applied to by the Sanitary Commute*, or any other person. There was not ooly no refusal on his part lo receive this unhappy man. but immediately on hearing the facts in the case, Mr. P requested a friend lo procqre a per mit, and have the man removed to the Infirmary without delay. On going to the place where the wagon had been wa» Imtud that he already had bceu taken m a t«enevolenl phy»i.
