Our remark was not elicited from any opposition
to the contemplatrd improvement, from a
want of knowledge on the subject. We are in
formed that this road will unite with the Steuben
ville rood, for ten miles, from the Ohio river at
Pittsburgh, aoulh-wetawardiy, and that the same
depots will answer both roads. Our Washington
neighbors have long desired a Railroad commuu 1
cation with Pittsburgh and will no doubt exert

Oor city was thrown into some commotion, yes
terday; by the anconocemenl Ihaf the brokers had
refused the acrip of PituLurgb and Allegheny cities
and Allegheny County. These scrips have formed
the great bulk of our circulation for aome year*
past, and have answered a very useful purpose a*
a safe and convenient currency. From the readi
ness of Ha circulation—people generally preferring
it to the small bank notes of other rotates—and the
facility of its creation, the City Council* B °d the
