of general sales.

Cotton —The demand has continued extensive
during the past lortnighL Sales to a very large
eztent had taken place m the course i.f'lbe week
ending Feb. 2 —and 67,SfiO bales changed hands,
of which 31,ri30 Pales were American, the prices
of these remain without much if any change, but
Brazil or South American, being in very active re
quest, both for consumption or ou spccnlaiioo. ad*
vanced half of a penny per Ok Since the 2d in?!,
the market has been lirra and active, and the sales
amount to 01,120 bales, of which speculators have
taken 12,300 bales, and exporters 0,100 bales.
American Produce—Cured Provisions. Ashes.
Naval Stores, aud in fact all articles of American
production, are in fair demand, and sell at remu
nerating prices.
Iron, dec.—Both Iron and Tin Plates continue
in very active demand, and have further advan
ced.
The Manufacturing Districts.—From the Manu
facturing Districts, the accounts ore decidedly en
couraging. Holders of goods are tirm, nnd tan
g-nine as to a good spring trade.
15Uxk* —The Stock market is improving, and
-both American and English securities are again on
the advance —the demand fur LTnU-d* States mx
per cents. Mill continues—the nse is 1 per cent,
with every appearance of a Mill further nse. Very
Inrre amounts have changed hands. Maryland
sterling %> per cents have been sold at 73 to 7S—
the last quotation being 75 to 60 per cent
Spirit of the Domestic Market.

Flour—Sales confined to retailing. Good to
choice country brands in limited lots, would corn*

good Illinois yesterday at the last figure*.
Grain—Sale yesterday of two small lots of good
southern wheat from the levee at 82e, sacks re
turned. Prime and choice samples will command
55c. Sale to day of 323 sacks corn from the le»
•vee at 30c. bags returned. Oats sell at 25027 c.
Provisions—No pork or lard on the market; quo
tation* same as heretofore. Sale to day ot 1.666
pieces shoulders in bulk, from the levee, at 2;c
pound.
Whiskey—Sale?* to day of 135 bids common
and good brands of raw. in lots at 17017,c per
gallon.
Colton—The market closes very firmly. We
particularize the sale* as follows 550, 500. 502,
717. 500. 1000 in two lots, 2f)o, 300. 485 and 767
bales, all on private terms; 570 do at ft?; 29 do at
> 6|; HO do at 7j; 29 do at 6j, 90 do at 61; 55 do at
6f; and 79 bales at 6j c p lb
Tobacco—The sales of tobacco are 12 hbds Ad»
initted at s}; 29 hbds, 26 Admitted at sj, 1 do at

Sugar and Molvaee—The sale* amount to 6<iu

Cattle —There wii a large supply at the scales
on Monday, and price* were something better. —
The offerings reached 900 head, of which 4UO
were sold to city butchers, 60 to prickers, und 440

averaging 3.50 groan.
Hogs—The Mipply was smoll, and sale* quite
