In reviewing the transactions of the market for
the week just dosed, we can notice hot lew if
any important changes- from oar hut general re~
view. . The weather has been very changeable,
and from the frequent storms of rain and snow
business has been rendered more or less stagnant]
The rivers have been kept at a high stage, not*
withstanding which however, business in that

have partially fallen off, notwithstanding which;

ALE—The market maintains its usual quiet
ness, and very 4iuie is doing la sales. We may

. BACON-rCoasiderable quantities have been
coming 10, aod in the early part of the week, some
activity.was manifested, 'with sales amounting lo
some 20,00.0 lbs shoulders, sides and hams, at 4ft,
4|ose, and 6fto6|c 9D- Considerable quanti*
ties of bacon are now in process of curing pro*
poratory to the spring trade.
BULK ' have been to a fair
extent, and sales have transpired during the week
amounting to tome 10,000 Db at 4c f Heavy
lots are being shipped east, and the demand here
is limited, and but Utile doing in the article.
BROOMS—The quantities coming forward are
very small; supplies ore limited and prices as lost
quoted remain very firm- Moderate sales are cf»
footed from store at $1,23 to 2£5 9 dox.
We have heard of no sales during
the week; the article is held at $650370 » ton, as
