placed in a fosnace an the public landing, and subjected
to the intense beat of a stone coal fire for more than
three hours. In one hone and a loaf the safe Caine to
• bright red boat; the door of the furnace ono then
closed. which caused an Increased and steady heat for
the balance of the time, until the cast iron wheels were
partially melted ot; the furnace was then thrown down
and the safe cooled and opened. Tha =they, papers
and books which it contained were as perfect as when
placed there, the binding only of the books being in
jured by the wetter in cooling the safe. We have no
hesitation in recommending it to the public as a safe
superior to any we have ever seen tested, and behave
