SEVER DAYS LATER FROR EUROPE
Correspondence of the Pittsburgh Gazette.
nnurrusin k , Oct. 25, 1818
The Steamer Europa arrived at New York this
morning, having made her trip from Liverpool in
ten daps, and bringing dates to the 14th instant.
Corms is flat. The market is in favor of the
buyer; and but little is dOne beyond the immediate
wants of the consumers.' The sales the past week

PROVISION'S She unchanged.

vious qtustanorus. Meal is worth 17 to 18 shilling's

Letters from Patin pronounce officially a deter
mination on the part of England and France
to interfere in the difficulty between Italy and
Austria.
Austria has issued a manifesto, declaring that
Lombardy shall continue a pert of the Austrian
Empire; but, that extensive constitutional and re
presentative institutions shall he granted. This
manifesto makes no mention of the proposed medi.
anon on the part France and England.
The Union, a French paper, and the organ of di
plomacy, says that the English Embassador had a
long conference with Cavaigunc, during which the
intentions of the English Minister were explicitly
stated. It appears that the Ambassador corn'
plains that the Italian question has been arranged
in a manner not in accordance with the promise
es made by Cavaignac to the Assembly.
The Ministerial defeat was the theme antrum!
conversation, and the opinion generally prevailed
that the Ministers would resign on Monday, bat
they did not. Paris papers of Tuesday my that
the Ministers did tender their resignations, but
Cavaignac resolved not to leave the Government
until a Constitution was deckled, and a President
appointed. Consequently he refused to receive the
resignations, declaring that he would entreat the
Assembly to proceed without delay, and form a
Constitution and elect a President. Accordingly,
the Committee on the Constitution bad decided
that immediately alter its adoption the Nation shall
proceed to elect a President, and that in the mean
time :the Assembly shall examine its functions ,
and pus the organic laws which ant necessary to
carry the Constitution into effective operation.
The Presidential question is the prevailing sub •
jest of interest. The opinion is pretty general that
Napoleon will succeed.l I The moderate Republi
cans will support Cavaignac. The election will
probably occur about the 15th proximo, as it is
generally understood that the Constitution will be
proclaimed on the Ist.

many of them requiring an interpreter—told the

Court adjourned to rif this morning.
Susan Batty was fined six and a fourth cent.
