REVIEW OF THE
PITTSBURGH MARKET,
won TUE vnzEic =Dom =Emma= 5.
During the week just ended, the markets have
been quite steady, and haute shown bat little if
any important variation in pricea
The weather generally has been pleasant for the
season, though very dry, and the river is again
gradually approaching the low water mark; hot to
suit the emergency, there are always any number
of light draught boats in waiting to suit the wants
of the trade, even at a much lower siege of water
than we have at present. The over boniness has
been quite lively, and must become more so as
the fall season approaches. Flour and bacon have
formed the burden of the receipts by over during
the week, but large quantities of these articles.
particularly of bacon, have passed to the cast
without touching our market, leaving however, •
sufficiency in the market to suit all the demands
of the present limited trade.
ASHES—We notice nothing new in the mar
ket, with a air supply of almost every kind in the
market, price. are without any material change
from our last quoted rates, with moderate sales.—
We give the following as the ruling bgures of the
market at presenC—Pearls 5351 c, salami.. 5 1a 6 ,
pots 4(i*, scorching. Slade, and soda ash at tic
tp lb. The market for all kinds is inactive-, and
most continue so until the return of the regular
fall demand.
ALE—Sales of Pittsburgh manufactured ale are
regularly effected at 87, cask included.
APPLES—Receipts of green apples by river
have increased, and the aides of the week have
been to a fair extent, at prices ranging according
to quality from first bands, at 5101,25, and from
store at 41,25 to $1,37 p bbL
BACON—Considerable quantities of western
cured continue to arrive by river, and the amounts
shipped east have been quite liberal, leaving how
ever, sufficient quantities in dare to meet all the
demands of the trade. Prices continue very firm,
with a partial improvement in some kinds. Some
30,000 Re of city cured from smoke house have
been disposed of in limited lots at, for shoulders
41c, sides 41, and hams at4ilo p th. Hams sold
in separate lots have commanded 7c pM. The
demand tor shoulders and hams 11 pretty fair,
while sides are inactive. Regular sales of west
ern eared bacon at, for shoulders 4011, sides 410
41, and hams at 61061 c ♦ BS. Good country cu
red bacon in loose lots is sold regularly at i to is
lower than the above qaoted figures.
