of examining a noble bloek
statuary marle. It was taken by Messrs '
Ripley and Barnes trout their extensive
f quarry in Rutland, Vermont, some tide feet
below the surface. This is the largest block
lof marble ever quarried in this country. It
weighs nine thousand six hundred pounds
