Mr. Hoderwood then addreved the Senate at

Mr. Baldwin thought there was nettling in this
bill, in his Opinion, which called upon any Senator
to stand fortkaathe peculiar representative of one
section of the Union to another. It was simply
prOPoiled by this Section to give validity to the
laws paired by the provisional legislature of Ore.

o'clock. Present, 13rig. Gen. Nathan Towson, Pre
sident; Brig. Gen. Caleb Cishing, and Col. W. G.

;Advocate. At eleven ticbck, Gen. Shields enter.

a recess until 12, by which time Geo. Scott eme

• At 12 o'cloCk. the Court twassembled—all the
member. present. The fidktwing officers were
in attendance: Gen. Scott, Gen. Pilbw, General
Quitinan, Col. Duncan, Capt. Scott, Lieut. Rains,
and Lieut. Schuyler Hamilton.
Soon rifler the Court commenced its business,'
Gen. Scott rose and made an apology !or the de
lay which he had caused the Court. A similar
apology was made by Gen. Pillow. Gco. S., id the
course of his remarks, stated that he was yet very
weak—so much so as to render walking very fa
tiguing.

The Treaty was ratified by the Chamber of Dep
uties on the 19th ultimo, at 61 o'clock, r•. C. The

approved by a comparatively munh larger vote.'
