Brininess yesterday was somewhat improved.
We cannot my, indeed, that any general improve•
meut W. manifest, but in some quarters there was
considerable animation. The arrivals of steamboats
were considerably increased, the imports quite
full—Stad business on the wharf therefore much
enlivened.
The river ben not perceptibly imprnved from di
to rains. It continues slowly to decline, and the
large packets do not venture on large freights, but
they anise and depart without interruption; and
for small boats the water la abundant.
There is no Cessation in the snivels of bacon;
almost every boat bringingmore or less. Potatoes
also . continue to come in freely. Of sugar mtd
molasses but little arrives. By the Beaver canal
route, pig metal from Mercer county. Pa. and
Trumbull county Ohio, Comes in considerable
quantitir.--Of Hour, the receipts since Tuesday
have been somewhat increased, but prices are
pretty well maintained. The bacon market re
mains steady. Produce is arriving constantly, bat
there is boating doing, and quotations generally
are unchanged. " .
