Tut IbuLLUxT.—We always foci a pleasure in
dwelling upon the !>lill and haudiwork ot' our
steamboat builders, but have never met a case so
decidedly worthy the highest praise than the one
named above. Indeed,'so completely magniiicient
is she in all her ports, that the name could not have
been more worthily bestowed.
This beautiful steamer is now fully completed,
was designed for, and will take her place in the
regular Cincinnati Packet Line, to run in place of
the Wisconsin.
Her hull, which U the very model of perfection,
is by that well known and skilful builder, E. Por
ter, of Shousetuwn, and measures in extreme
length, on deck, 223 feet, 31 feet beam,29feel floor
and 0 feet hold.
-14 tibia prime, for aale by ~
WICK fc.M-CAWDLESS.
Her engine*, in jwinl of splendor, may Us view
ed as one of tHe best: specimen* of those we!|
known muebiotst* Messrs. Robinson Ar Minnis.
The cylinders arc 20 inches in diameter, with an S
feet 6tr.>ke. She lias live lioilcf* 20 feet -in length
by 10 inches in diameter.
Attached to the engines is that voidable modem
improvement called the “Doctor,” whose office it is
to beep the boilers regularly filled with water.
Her engines .are justly ranked among the finest
: ever finished in this city.
-The wheels are 301 feet in diameter, with 12
feetbuckets,
We now pass to th? splendid ] cabin of the Drib
lianb which surpasses-in richness and beauty of
fiais!i, any craft ever floated from our wharf It'
was designed by that higbfy*cided orcbitectuciat,
Mr. J. W. Kerr, and built by Mr.
The enrichments, looking glasses Ac. are by Mr J.
iMurphy of Wood street.;
The cabin is finished :in the Tudor Gothic style
of architecture —having all tljc 'enrichments of
that beautifnl style fully carried out. It is 192 feet
long, by 151 wide: The painting is by Mr. Tboa-
Rhodes, and is done in the very best style.
The Chairs, Sofas, Ac. are from the factory of
George Singer, Foorth-street—all made of black
walnut, with crimson cushion, those in the Ladies’
cabin being after the styS of Louis VL The tables
are also of black walnut, and are from the estab
lishment of Mr. T. B Ypnog- -'Upholstery by Mr.
Eli Edmundson, 2d street. Thbcnrpet* are of the
richest RrusseU, and, trgetlicr with the tapestry,
arc from the estab'rshment of Mr. McClintock, 4th
street. r
, In conclusion, we mention another fact in the
general arrangement of this noble steamer. The
small engine for supplying the leulcrs with water
is so constructed, that in casctof lira, n stream of
water can be instantly conveyed to any part of the
boat. Also with three bilge, pumps to serve iu
case of snagging or other accident to the hull.
fiTbe Brilliant was built under the immediate su
perintendence of Capt ' It. J. GTiuck, wbo Lakes
command of herj'und,.wherever she goes', '(pay
justly lie bailed as the Pride of the West.
