Tin In view of the m«ny
steamboat disasters which have lecejuly occurred
on the Western waters, the tallowing among otlfcv
.resolutions was passed on board the M. --- on her
recent trip tom Cincinnati to this city, and tells
loudly in favor of Capt. Norton:
ujietatan/. That our individual thanks are duo
to Captain Norton lor making the comtart and safe
ivV-tus passengers his first care, by giving person
id attention to the condition of-tlie engine at every
landing; by a sleepless and vigilant watchfulness
'during; the night, as we were Ibrcmg our. way
through the ice; and; in short, bV every lacnnce of
personal convenience that could lessen the discom
tarta and dangers of a passage in a boat
to overflowing with passengers and freight, andob
strutted by the ice-"
WTiile oa this subject we think, it due to state,
that of all the accidents by explosion, which have'
recently occurred, not one has happened with any
of the large number of boats regularly engaged in
the Pittsburgh trade. We there lore take pleasure
in referring to the above resolution as presenting a
fair specimen of out river men generally.
For Lady Byron,
Miller, leaves this day as above, at 10 a- «•
