Gen. Milroy's forces in Western Virginia,

expedition to Celisa was entirely successful. -
CoL Graham reports, through Gen. Bobion,
that they destroyed the town, 100,000 pounds
of baeon, 10,000 bush whsat, 10,000 bush of
corn, 100 bbls whisky, 100 bbls i flour, a con
siderable quantity of sugar,bailee, Ao,,and 40
boats which had been used In transporting
supplies from Burkrville and other points on
tho Cumberland. * The rebels report a losl of
90 killed, bat Col.* Graham, the commander of
thr expedition, Is of the'opinlon that tho num
ber IS greater. 'We had one wounded and one
missing. This result is highly areditabie to
bur troops.' Indeed it was a perfect success.

Naw Yoxx, April 35.—A letter from New
born contains the following r ‘
Gen. Potter left Newbern on the 18th, with
a large foroe, to relieve Washington and drive
the enemy from that place. General Neglee
oommands the # advanee f eonslstingof Blok
man's brigade and the Third New Yotk Cbf
alry, with light howitiers; They overtook
the rear guard of the enemy on the road lead
ing west from near the month of Blount's
crook. A| Chioowmittf creek, about six miles
from Washington, the enemy made a stand,
but Gen. Neglee, with Us staff and eavalry,.
drove the enemy precipitately from behind
his works, capturing a number of prisoners,
including the Colonel of the Secona l Georgia
Cavalry. Our pursuit was so vigorous that
tho enemy'were compelled te break and scat
ter in confusion towards Greenville.

April 25«—Two or three days ago ai party of
our troops paid a visit to Front Royal, on the
Rappahannock, capturing fifteen or twenty
prisoners, a mail and ssveral horses. They
also destroyed a quantity-of forage and some
army wagons.
The severe rain storm oeated last night,
and there is now a prospect of better weather,
which will dry up tho roads.
The rebel pickets Inform ours that they
have a now General on their side, who treats
the soldiers with great severity. On inquir
ing his name, they reply, “General Starva
tion, by God I”

futed to pass the soldiers' proxy bill over the
Governor's veto by a vote of 37 yeas to 49
