Gen. Due is known to bare forwarded here
statements from Bichmond papers te the ef
fect that* on the 15th Inst.* Admiral Farragut
attacked Port.Hodson, and after a short fight
was seriously repulsed. One vessel, the Mia
lUsippi* being sunk. They admit, however*
that one ran the bloekade* and is now between
Port Hudson and Vicksburg. This rebel re
port is not fully credited here.
The latest advices from Blohmond speak of
gold selling there at four hundred and fifty
P«r cent, and adds that private sales have
been made at a much higher figure.

as before* in certificates of indebtedness.’'
