Lomaytti.x, Oct. 7—Midnight—Lexington
mostly evacuated by. the rebels, only about
a hundred remaining there. Tho rebels
tooki and sent to Camp Dick Robinson, seven
thousand barrels of pork, from Ohomanlt
Company, packed on their account, and for
other parties, mostly secessionists. They
also took ninety thousand dollare worth of
Jeans. and Limeys, from Oldham, 'Scott
00., which they have manufactured into
clothing. The rebels paid for there goods in
Confederate Scrip, rimless the owners refined
to receive it, In which event, no consideration
was given.
Reliable individuals, who have conversed
with the rebel soldiers, are confident that a
battle must ensue before the rebels leave Ken
tucky. The rebel 'soldiers told them lthat
they preferred being killed, or captured and
paroled, rather thin Much over the mbrui
tains again. This seems to be the conellizion
of the whole rebel army: •
The report of three companies of Ohio cav
alry being taken by the rebels near Elizabeth

The Southern line is working to Bagdad.
Treatment of ;he Sick and Wounded
Soldiers in the Hospitals.
lhatussono, Oct. 7.—A large number of
letten have been received at Headquarters
In this city, from different portions of Penn-
Sylvania, complaining bitterly of •thei: bad
treatment of our noble volunteers in the IT4ited
States hospitals in Washington, Annapolis,
Philadelphia, 'Chester, Point Lookont, - ' and
Providence, all indicating the neglect of the
Medical Bureau at Washington in supervis
ing the duties of surgeons in charge. It is
very evident that the Medical Bureau is , un
able, properly, to meet the present. exigency,
and the people - must agitate the question of
the proper. Ireatment of ony sick and wounded
soldiers, until the Provident himself directs
better arrangements to be'made by the United
State,Surgeon General.
At the late battle of Antietam there was 'an
utter want of foresight the wounded being
left for days on the Held uncated for. Being
familiar with the total inefficiency of the
arrangements made by the Medical Bureau at
Washington, Governor. Curtin will leave no
means untried to remedy the evil, and restore
our wounded to the fostering care of their
own homes.

Many of the houses in the town are badl
shattered by shot ; and shell. On . Sunday
General Ord drove the 'enemy five miler, over
hills and through woods and valleys, the
rebels taking advantage of every wood 'for
their infantry and every hill for their artil

rebel General Rogers was killed. General

Ord and 'Veach are slightly wounded.
- Prisoners taken' say that' their effective
force in that vicinity was 85,000. This is
probably an over-estimate, but it ie certain
that they have outnumbered us two to one.
