The Issue beeemes Clearer. It ia cow clearly proven that the leaders - of the so:called Democratic - party in this Stabs are 'ln sytopathy, with, the rebels, and every thing indicates that they are not only ineympatity with them, hitt in active league with. them, and that it is their de termination to precipitate Penimylvaia into the Southern Confiderney ; not by force of arms, for that is impossible, but by getting the control of the 'national legislature. Prior to the bombardment of Fort Sum ter, and while JA.IIE3 BUCILINAN was still in office, the leaders had every thing ar ranged for the movement contemplated by Mr. Huouss, in his resolution. Hero is the proof: On the 41ith of January, 1861, "the Dem ocratic citizens of Philadelphia', in general maea meeting assembled" said . in their , pieamble; then slid there adopted, that they deezaid it "their duly to announce to their fellow citizens of the.natiou their de liberate judgment, theirlopes, their fears, and their intentioni." A Iletter from the ant , near Sharpaburg says A deputation of citizens from Lancaster, Pa., came into camp yestorday, with three wagon loads of "things for the soldiers," sent out to the Lancaster county troops by the "patriot-daughters." If the good peo ple at home could have been present to look intozle face. of the soldier, as the boxes of flannels, the barrels of cabbages, the sacks of potatoes, the Cans of "apple -butter," the jars of butter, of jellies, of fruits, and the numerous packages .of miscellany, were handed from the wagons, how would they .have felt - the blessing of giving good gifts. During all -thistime ' Mr. Zeigler main tained his party affiliation,, worked and voted with and stood by 3.ti1,r5 Buchanan in all his acts of despotism towards the free people of that unfortunate territory. Buchanan has fallen; his light-has gone out;- the pall of nightevershadows him, and covers him in impenetrable darkness, and • were he to-day a candidate for Congress before you, could he claim the suffrage of one out of every hundred of the free and independent voters of this county ?- If Bu chanan is deserving of public condemna tion, hew can Mr. Zeigler, who aided anti supported lim in his measures, expect to be differently . treated? But, fellovr-ci tisane there is . still strong er incentive to your adherence to your par ty at this particular time. You have sons and brothers and relatives in the army, of whom Abraham Lincoln is the Commander in-Chief. It is your . ' bounden duty to strengthen his hands, and giie him .he aupport necessaryet ... ) a faithful discharge of his duty. Congress is the president e right arm, which if once weakened his power for good becomes paralyzed and de stroyed. - . To give efficiency to the members-of an administration, every President should have a friendly and harmonious Congress. To the friends of President. Lincoln, there fore, do we especially appeal. We ask you not to commit the lamb to the wolf, not to elect a Congress of Democrats to tie the bands of 3 President, in whom we have the most unfaltering confidence. Give hint his friends as counsellors and advisers, and not his enemies. Mr. Ziegler may be what. might be termed socially, a clever fellow: You may feel kindly disposed to him, as a citizen ; but when duty to your country demands your suffrages, you must not allow social consid erations to hire the slightest influence. if Mr. Ziegler be elected, his success will be published and proclaimed as a Democratic triumph in a Congressional district which, in our former elections, has given 2,000 majority. It will be published far and wide that the minds of the people have un dergone a great change. Your vote would be regarded as a rebuke to the President. But this is not all. If a majority of Demo cratic Congressmen should be elected, the whole policy of the government will be changed. An ignominious and disgraceful peace will be patched up, by which we will be handed over to the monarchs and ty rants of the slave power, to be kept in per petual bondage, and to be followed by the passage of laws compelling us to 'pay all the Southern losses, slavesineluded, there by subjecting us to burdens in taxation four-fold greater than any which can now devolve upon us. Think of these thing's, fellow-citizens, and then say whether you are prepared to place our honest and efficient Chief Magis trate in the power of his enemies—your sons and relatives in the army in a false position, and to expose yourselves to the danger and liability of exorbitant burdens and ultimate Lou of freedom itself. Of our candidate, Thomas Williams, we have great reason to be proud. Highly gifted in oratorical power, wodoubt whether he can be equalled and feel certain be can not be excelled upon the floor :of Congress by any one. gar district may claim the honor of presenting the first and ablest debater in Congress. Every voter should feel rejoiced at this opportunity of confer ring honer upon the district. Besides, it must be apparent to all, that subjects of vast importanee are to be acted upon, in the next Congress, which will require mas ter minds, and eloquent tongue; to under stand and discuss—questions of taxation, in which our people aro deeply interested, will engage much of the time of our next Congress. Upon this great topic, judging from the past, where can we find a more faithful guardian at the public interests? As a national Bepreeentative, he will un doubtedlyhe equally vigilant in protecting his constituents against exorbitant bur dens in the shape of taxation; will ad vocate a riged system of economy in the disbursement of the public money, and will set his face against every species of public plunder. ;The great essentials of a states man, capacity and honesty, be possesses in as eminent degree, and if elected and spared to serve us, we men, in advance, con gratulate ourselves that we shall never be called upon to blush with shame for his want of either; but, on the contrary, our district will be pointed to as pro-eminently honest, intelligent and patriotic. Although our choke was ono of our own young'and talented citizens now engaged in the service, of his country, in the field, the duly, constituted. nominating ,conven tion has thought proper to set aside his claims! for the present, and give us Mr. Williams; as our candidate.
