A .letter has been received here from George D.-Prentice, Esq.,, dated Nor. 26th, stating tbat;he had nothing to do with the article in the Louisville Journal concern ing the speech made by Secretary Cameron fet tho dinner party lately given by Col. Forney in honor.of Mr. Prentice. The entire article in the Journal was a misrepresentation of tho speech, aeatbysome person without tho know ledge of Mr. Prentice. Secretary Camoron's opinions upon tho subject are tho same as those expressed in his instructions to Generals Butler and Sherman,' and it is understood that they will bo reiterated in bis'annual report to tho President. INTELLIGENCE PROM RICHMOND. A Union spy, who left boro soma three weeks ago for Richmond, arrived to-day, hav ing left the latter place on Wednesday last.. He brings important intelligence which be Immediately communicated to oor Govern ment, He. Bays tho greatest excitement pre vailed in Richmond and throughout the South, respecting the naval and military expeditions along the entire Southed coast. The 1 troops from the States most exposed signified their determination to return homo, and larganumr bora had already started. In Richmond, -*a. few days before he left, much difficulty was experienced in quelling a rcbelKojii spirit among-eereral regiments from Georgia,, South Carolina, and Louisiana. They wnro re strained only by positive prqtaises froin Jeff.. Davis and the Secretary of War,- that) a suf ficient number oftroops should bo dispatched from those States to protect not only the States, but to drivo the “infernal Yankees” from Southern soij. lie states that prepara tions are being made to remove the Caplto} from Richmond. The Virginians, however,; were indignant, and wore threatening divors things against their Congress. There scorned to be, he says, a very general feeling among tho Southern poople to abandon Virginia en tirely, and allow her to fall into the hands of tho Federal Government. They regarded it as too'expensive to keep an army on ho.* soil. Tho rebel's hope fiow is*, judgingfrom what he heard, them say,.merely to keep our'army from advancing into the interior from their coast landings. THE PENSACOLA APPAIB. Farther doubt-is thrown upon the Pensa cola story, as narrated by tho rebels, by the well-ascertained* ifact that at last Recounts only tho Niagara and a few tonders were off Pickens; tfco former djqws foqr fpet too muob water to enable her to nass the bar, as sho was said to Hava done, and that tho Colo rado was, when laftfoard from, blockading *tho South-WcstTass. Tt-irthoughk probable In high quarters that if Colonel Brown did open fire, it was mainly for destroying tho "wooden barracks in which the rebels, who ore without tents, sheltered themselves. Heretofore they hare been compelled to lie in wot tents, exposed to every inclemcnoy of the weather, with no food except fresh beef and flour b&kcd on rocks, or in frying-pana, without salt or lar^. . Tbe medical attention while in this condi tion was in many cases worao than none. Ho is of opinion-that under no 'circiimatances should any slave who belongs to a robol mas ter be returned, either before or after the war.
