Three thousand Germans ol Gen. Blenkei’s

thie evening, and, with regimental bandi and
fireworks and colored lights, marched to Gen.
McClellan** house to celebrate hia promotion
to the Generalahip-m-Chief. Transparencies
and pyrotechnic pieces of most beautiful de
signs were added to the attraction. All Wash
ington was out to see. The crowds soon de
manded the American stimulus of a speech
and the call lor Secretary Cameron brought
him to the balcony, wnisre he said :
boldiert ; lam glad to see you. Glad,
oecatue yoQ-come to do honor to your youoff
and gallant General; it is fit that you should
do him honor. 1 know him well, and I know
that he has great qualities. All the men I see
around me are Germans, and I am told that
the most ol you are from Pennsylvania, mv
