United Sutee. Widow Tnplet, who lives
near Alexandria, and whose ajmpatbiea are
believed to be with the rebels, unaccountably
lost eight alavea. She thought that they were
within the iioes of Geo. Beintseimau’a com
mand, and applied to that officer for relief.
Foreseeing one possible objection to the return
ol her chattels, sfce bached her petition with'
a penal bond, pledging herself not to sell them
South. The bond, Gan. Helntislmae told her
be was lawyer enough to know to be worth
less, because without- a consideration. The
