Messrs. Editors — i There remains no ques tions, to those who ire observant of the facts, that the ticket at the "Onion" Convention was settled upon weeks batons by Dunn, Gibson, Kolkentieck & The first two of three were delegates to the Breckinridge Charleston Convention, and the other gentleman carries out the treason then begun, by givicg a Seers. lion ;quint to his paper. In tact, evory Sects siooist and every sympathiser with secession in this county is a supporter of the etnisenlled "Union> , ticket. The t•Uaion" ticket was got up by the dem ocratic managers that it might otters to the benefit of democracy. In canting around for some candidate . for Shle nt eriff who bad, or w o as supposed to have,py of means, and wh might be palmed off as bring a Republican without actually being one, they settled upon Joshua Rhodes as the one who combined the neceesary requisites. As to the fist item, he wee reputed to have a business worth from $20,00 0 to $60,000 a year; and as to the last, he bad been an old-line Whig, and they con cluded as tile public did not generally know that he joined the Demociats in 1854, was President of the 'Liquor League in 1855, or voted for Buchanan in 1856, that they might easily pats him off as a Republican while really being one of themylves. Mr. Rhodes bet his money most freely on Foram, in the Gubernatorial contest in 1860, so confident was be that the Democrats would win, and he of course voted as he bet. His associates in that betting enterprise were ill Democrats, and his notorious efforts to elect Fester mast ha well known to many Republi cans in tits city. When the Presidential election came off, however, he did not vote. -The result of the October election probably sickened him, and hence he did not vote at all for President. Whether it was 'became be had large quanti ties of ale in New. Orleans and St. Louts, or because he wan disputed with the loss of his beta, it is certain that he dodged and refused to show his band. And now he is pot forward for our votes as a ftepobtlean! The only evidences presented to show that he is a Hapublicts are that he ran ass dele gate for Mayor Wilson, in the Mayoralty con . teat in the Winter of 1859.60, sod that he agreed to ran tea delegate tar the late Repub. keen Convention. The latter he dodged, as be did the vote for President, and although elected, as a Wilson delegate to the Mayoralty Convention, he turned up missing when the commotion met, his absence causing a split in the convention tad a double nomination for Mayor, which was remedied only by the mag nanimous withdrawal of Mr. Sawyer. la these consist the entire evidences of Alr. Rhodes , Republicanism. Thep was, as you suggested at the time, a, slight slip in the arrangement', 111 the failure to put Bans on the ticket for Treasurer. That was unquestionably the original programme. The delegates, by some mistake, nominated an other man, tad Bares WU lore over It for a people of days. They have, however, mollified him, and the prudence of the managers In get ting • man of substance for Sheriff has thus been vindicated. I have no idea, Messrs. Editors, in Laing made a eatepaw to pull routed chestnuts out of thr firs for the Dalleat of these Democrats. I shall not boo my finger, by touching the "Union" alias Democratic ticket.
