This Damning I send you a few of the trans
actions of our Regiment, since leaving Camp
Kipp. We are now encamped on Arlington
Heights, near Fort Corcoran. Oa Saturday,
GIS 7th inst., we received marching orders.
but did not start until next morning abqut 7
o'clock, when we marched by the way of
Georgetown to the Cilia] that crosses the Po
tomac, and then direct to Fort Corcoran.
Here we made a halt for about three hours,
when we again marched, but only a few rods

this e, end then arrived in our new camp.
All trot to work with an energetic spirit, and
in th short period of one hour our city was
nal built.
On esterdsy our regiment was reviewed by
quite • number of military Generals, there
being - 161nd twelve carriages, drawn by two
and fohorses, and in the front of the pro•
ceesion was the Hon. Abraham Lincoln and
lady..

The general health of the regiment is good
It prevent, although we have had the sad
misfortune of losing-one of oar members, who
died on Saturday night, after a short illness, of
dysentery aed typhoid fever. He was Second
Sergeant of C apt. Eepre company, I. P. Halle,
a brotherof the First Lieutenant orshe coos.
