"Read again that last paragraph of the
Tennessee organ'e article. We are told that
it is not-only the determination of Tennessee
but the sentiment of the whole South, that
Kentucky, whatever her people may say,
shall not be permitted to remain a part of
the United Slates.; ' No matte; how often or
how nuanimouly the freemen of Kentucky
may vote against secession, the vote is
to be treated al 'a forced verdict
and forcibly annulled, bayoneted down,
by -Tennessee and the South. 'The
truth,' says Tennessee ' hsd ati well be

snob idea has ever entered the mind of the
Southern people as that she shall remain' a

the price of blood aid conquest.' There we
have itllll. Tennessee and the South don't
oars particularly about having our people,
but they need our' territory, they''have use
for out land, and they will have it if we,
the freemen of Kentucky, don't choose to

State Kentucky I For months past a voice

dwelling upon the monstrous and atrocious
absurdity of the idea of forcing the people
of a State to submitto a government against
their will and Wittig them as the. serfs of

that Tennessee and the South-have never
bad for a momentithe ridiculous thought of
letting Kentucky stay in the United Slates
—that she IttUst4l) out within the 'reason

Tennessee and the South, that need her

"There may be Kentuckians, or creatures

these stinging inajilts and insolent threat
will not ethane in this exigency to drive
out the invader, whose foot, now upon the
soft of Kentucky, Will soon, {f not replied,
be upon her neck, bat. if there are such,
they are a shame to Kentucky and a dis
grace to the race of man."
TIIII NeXT NATAL' litovimasv.—The New
York World has lvice mentioned the pre
paration of o great naval expeditioi for
operation against the South, and the Times
has indicated the particular point to be
ojeratcd against.
We repullished these items because, In
the craving for news, the people will have
whatever has been made public; but we
were satisfied that the original publication
was wrong, Mid agree with the Philadelphia
Press in what it eayls below:
"'lt is sandstone to see how certain ne we
papers continue to expose departmental
operations; thus only furnishing informa
tion to the Secessionists. Happily, how
ever, they are not , able to announce the
point next to be 'limited on the Southern
coast by our 1;1018'4 navy. Lste &comets
intimate 'that the traitors at Savannah,
Georgia; Fernandina, Florida; Charleston,
Smith Carolina, end all along the Texan
Golf frontier, are in equal dread. Is it not
clear that the only way for the Government
to maintain itself is for those who complain
of its inefficiency to give it the poor ad
vantage of being enabled to conduct its af
fairs with something like secrecy?"
By the advertisement of Joenui r Halms,

it will be seen that books for subscription

office of Hanna, Earl & Co., on Monday
next, and continue open for fifteen dap.
As this loan pays,7 80 per. cent. interest,
and as parties May subscribe for any
