ond Vermont Regiment, 'from Brattlehoro,
came in last evening, and gives a very interest
ing account of his expe rience in the vicissitades
of war.' A companion bad been ahotin the
ankle, chattering the bone, and Sergeant Cole
was conveying him to the ,hospital when ithe
retreat took place. Finding the enemy upon
them, - his eompanion begged him lb leave,hita
and take care of himself. Ile helped his com
rade into a sheltered place, and took to ; the
weeds for safety. Emerging from - hi 4 shelter,
after a run, ho found himself in the midst of
the enemy, wbo fired upon him; leaping', the
fences ha ran a couple of hundred yards throUgh

While on their way to the Seceth camp, they
