Army Losses.
Mr. K. IS. Kiliot, of Washington, bas
prepared an account of the proportioo of
Ieatli8 in the L'uion armies, covering the
firt fifteen montbs of the war. It seems

disease, where two have died from the
arms of tbe enemy.
The mortality from all causes bas been
bout $evrn per ccut. per year. This is
7c tban our losses in the Mciican war
one half less tban that of tbe British in
Spaio and one third less tban their loss
to tbe Crimea. Yet our battles have been
among the most frequent and sanguinary
of any recorded in history.
One great cause of this favorable state
of affairs, is tbe aid of the Christian and
Sanitary Commissions and kindred efforts
to prevent and to cure. Timely prccau-
lions, ami timoly preparations, bafo saved
many thousands of precious lives.
The Commissioners of Northumberland
cnonty have resolved to build a new Court
House. Tbe Borough of Sunbury is re
quired to raise S5,0U0 of the amount nec
essary to erect tbe new building, which is
"estimated" at 30,000, but lax-payers
in Dauphin and Lycoming oounties can
are thnoe of Northumberland tbey will
bwve $50,000 to (75,000 to pay before
