ABRAtTAM LINCOLN.
Too Hard to Swallow !
Sam. Medary, editor of the Culumlus
(O ) Criiit, and an influential leader of
tbo 1'uckeye Democracy, said :
" It is well known tbat Gen. M'Clellan
Lai cot one ppark of pretensions to the
Presidency except what be has made out
of this war under Mr. Lincoln. He never
held a civil office in bis Ufa. Uennison
brought him forward as a military man.
Yet in three years, as a mere soldier, he
rises to tbe denial) J of the Presidency to
bead a party which is for peace posi
tion requiring! a statesman of enlarged
wiewi and a statesman's experience. And
for what? That a few men who have got
fcil ear may get foreign missions and Lome
positions, at tbe expense of tbe peace of
the eonnry and the lives of their constit
uents. This is paying too dear for such
whistlos, and, for one, we protest against
it in bcbalf of sur bleeding, rained, and
distracted country."
