Major Cole, commanding in West Vir
cinia, was attacked on Suuday morning by
' Masehy's command. After an hour's

lost two men killed and thirteen wounded.

were murdered by guerrillas near Mulber
ry, Tenn. General Thomas has assessed
the rebel sympathisers living within ten

the sum of 30,000, and has ordered tbe
money to be divided between the families
of tbe murdered men.
Chattanooga, Jan. 12. A beavreav-
' airy fight occurred near Strawberry Plains
on Sunday last. The enemy were repul

haa been badly handled in West and Mid
dle Tennessee, but has managed to escape
with most of bis onmtnaud. Tbe army
here ia in good condition. We have plen
ty to eat. Tbe weather is fearfully cold,

SENTENCED Zeuo Kolly, of New Bod
ford, Mass , convicted of fitting nut the
hip Tahamaroo for the slave trade, has
been sentenced for four years' imprison
ment and to pay lino of five thousand
dollars.
