The Soldiers' Opinions. CoUECTlOH. There were but 28 votes tat Woodward, io toe 51st P. V. 180 inaj. for Curtin out of 236. K9.Lt. Col. JamM A. Braver, Capt A. J. Snyder, and nearly all the soldier-, of Centre county, are "in" for Capt. Foster, Got. Curtin, and the other Union nomi- 'naei. CorTaaawodenea of the Star t Cbroolclo.1 Bcaltox Station, Sept. 28. Ton request, in yonr paper of a former date, that the soldiers give you their viewa with regard to the coming pulieriia torial contest in our State. To show you what is the feeling in our Keg. and Co., I send you a copy of the resolutions which were adopted by about a two thirds vote. I baTe not the exact returns, hut in our Co. all were in favor of thini bat two, notwithstanding quite a number say they are, and always have been Democrat. They ay that Curtin is the soldiers' friend, and the man to help on those measures which are calculated for the putting down of the Rebellion, and thus barteuing the closing of the war. The resolutions are as follows : Resolved. That we, the officers and men of the 10th I'a. Cavalry, deeiiiiiij; that it wouid be approjios at the present stage of the politic-id campaign in our paid old Keystone State, to f.irgei for the moment the campaign in the field, and express our sentiments in relation to the gubernatorial contest iu our native State, unite in the following : J 1. That we reprd the approaching State election, as fraught with vital mo ment to the country and government in this hour of national peril. j 2. That a hearty and zealous co-operation of the loyal States with the general government, "is esseutial to the vigorous prosecution of the war, and the npecdy Bud final overthrow of the Rebellion. 3. That in Andrew ii. Curtin we Tecognixe the candidate who will support the government in every measure calcula ted for the crushing out of this terrible conspiracy against our common country. 4. That we Dclieve trial me ejection of Judge Woodward would tend to etiibar- rass the national administration in us policy in proseeutiug the war, ami would have a moral bearing that would prove disastrous to the cause of the Union, both at home aud abroad. 5. That in Andrew O. Curtin we recognize the vA-lien' friend am patriot sMfetm , the man for the times and the man for the next Governor of our noble Commonwealth. 6. That a copy of these resolutions be forwarded to Gov. Curtin, aud request that they be published in the principal papers of the tate. Yours respectfully, N. Baix, Co. L, 10th IV Cav. Foldixbs' Kigiit to Vote. The Cop perhead newspapers are very much op posed to the soldiers voting. They say that soldiers have no right to vote, and floote the law on the subject as follows : Xo body of troops iu the army of the United States, or of this Commonwealth, (.hall be present, either armed or unarmed, at any place ot election witntn mut "in monwealth, during the time of such elec tion." They are careful not o add the proviso attached to the above clause, as follows: i Provided, That nothing herein con-j tained shall be so construed as to prevent j any officer or soldier from exercising the j Tigun.i wn.h7: .u ....v. ; Which he may belong U otuerwu .ju.n-, fied according to law." It will thus be seen that under the law j i . . . I soldiers have as good aright to vote as t -1 - i :.. i. n-n,A ,,t iiutnit anil t riviitniis, aim in iu. j lumanily why shouldn't they hive ? No one but a Copperhead of the basest sort ! would desire to deprive them of this right Vote like Sensible Ken. Wt have been told there are a few men who think of voting again-t Curtin, solely because they or their friends have been I ' 'i ! drafted. To such we would say in 'l sincerity, Curtin is no more at fault for the draft than you arc. It is the opposi tion of such men as Yallandigham and Woodward that causes the necessity for any draft. It was ordered by patriotic men, of both parties, in Congress. It has bccB executed andcr Seymour of X. Y. (Dem.) as well as wudcr Curtin of Fa. ! " (Rep.)
