Smith Lbs no chance whatever. It ia
doubtful whether Douglas will get even i
one Slate Pell, not over half a d zen, at ;
best. 15BECK1NBID03 will get the major- j
ity in those Statea where tbe Slave Oli
garchy would massacre a man tunning as
Lincoln Elector. Lincoln will proba
bly get most if not all the Statea where
Elections are really free and tbe i'cople
can make an unbiased choice.
The- only way to defeat the People's ;
Will, and to give tbe General Government
gain into the bands rf tbe Slave Power,
is by a reckless combination and fraud in .
tbe Free States, to throw tbe election iuto ;
Congress thus deliberately (and not ly j
accident, as in lSUOatdin 1524) cheating j
the People out of their selection of Presi- j
dent. In the Mouse, neither Lincoln,;
Breckinridge, nor Pell could command a '
majority of the States, and Douglas and
Smith will not be sent there. No election !
being made in tbe House, tbe Senate j
would choose the ice 1 resident, and he
become the President. That choice would
undoubtedly be Joseph Lane the picked
tnan of Mr. D-icbaoan and the Slave Oli
garchy from tbe outset and the most un
fit, corrupt and daDgcrous of all the candi- j
dates. I
Your choice, voter ! is really letireen '
Lincoln amf Lane. Be not deceived by
side issues. Vote cautiously, wisely, and
well!
The Work Half Done.
Tbe election of Cl'rtin is half the elec
tion of Lincoln. We may Lave the pow
er, but we must line it to gain any end.
A man may die of hunger if he will not
or does not eat the food set before Urn. ,
We may have a million majority of votes,
tut unless tbe votes be put in tbe ballot- -box
we shall have no majority.

More Confusion. A portion of the
Douglas State Committee of Penn'a met
