A bill has been intro duced into the Senate, the object of which is to prohibit the circulation of bank notes of a less denomination than $5 in the State. It requires that all pnrs ns, such as merchants, hotel-keepers, brokers, and, in fact, every one engaged in a business where tbero is necessarily much receiving and paying out of money, shall appear be fore the County Treasurer and make oath that he or they will not pay out or circu late bank notes of a less denomination than 5 ; whereupon, the said Treasurer grants him or them a license to carry on their busiurg, whatsoever it may be.
