GRACE CHOIR TO
REPEAT CANTATA
Bernard R. Mausert to Lead
Choir in Presentation;
Dr. Bagnell to Speak
The chorus choir of Grace Meth
odist Episcopal Church, under the
leadership of Bernard R. Mausert,
organist and choirmaster, will re
peat the cantata, '.'The Christ Child"
by Hawley, at to-morrow evening's
service. This cantata was rendered
in connection with the Candle Light
Service last Sunday. It was so well
rendered and received that by spe
cial request, Mr. Mpusert has con
sented to repeat this cantata.
It is a most beautiful holiday sea
son musical offering, abounding in
solos, duets, quartets, double quar
tets, and thrilling and gripping
choruses.
Dr. Robert Baggiell, pastor of
Grace Church, at this special mus
ical service, will speak a few words
on the topic. "Penny Wise and
Pound Foolish," —A phase of annual
inventory.
In the morning at 10.30 o'clock,
the Grace Church pastor will preach
on the topic, "The Light of God,"
and the vested choir will sing the
anthem, "The Heavens Are Declar
ing" by Beethoven, and Mrs. Arthur
H. Hull, soprano, will sing the offer
tory solo, "No Candle Was There
and No Fire" by Liza Lehmann.
The Epworth League will hold the
last meeting of the year at 6.30
o'clock in the social room of the
church with Charles W. 8011, Presi
dent of the Ilarrisburg District Ep
worth League, in charge of the meet
ing.
Rev. Green to Speak
at Colored Y. M. C. A.
The Rev. A. J. Greene, pastor of
Second Baptist Church, will be the
speaker at the Sunday afternoon
meeting held in the rooms by the
Y. M. C. A. branch for colored men
and boys, 802 Cowden street. Good
singing by the male chorus will fea
ture. The meeting will start at 4
o'clock. •

uled for 3.15. Dr. Hannan will lec
ture on "The Law of Temptation."
The Apollo Club will sing.
"How to Use the Bible" will be
discussed Sunday night, at 7.30
o'clock, by Dr. Hannan. He will
speak every night during the week
on "Revelation," "Inspiration," Bibli
cal Doctrine of God," "The Problem

Hope," a magazine of wide circula
tion and an author of several books
covering Bible doctrines and proph

Blind Boone Concert
Company Will Present
Program For Colored "Y"
The Blind Boone Concert Com
pany will appear on Tuesday even
ing, January 6th, in concert for the
benefit of the newly created "Y"
branch for colored men and boys.
The concert will be given in Fah
nestock Hall, Y. M. C. A. Building.
J. W. (Blind) Boone, will be ac
companied by Miss Marguerite Day,
soloist. He lost his sight from
brain fever when he was six months
old. His first instrument was a tin
whistle, on which he could play any
ordinary air after once hearing it.
Next he was presented with a mouth
organ hy which he charmed the
whole neighborhood—children com
ing ffom afar and near to hear him.
Once hearing a pupil in the insti
tute practicing on the piano, he left
his work and stole to the piano, as
it was impossible to keep his fingers
off the keyboard. He was soon able
to finger out several pieces, and it
was impossible to keep his mind on
anything else. He afterwards re
ceived a liberal musical education.
His slogan is "Merit, Not Sympathy,
Wins."
Mr. Boone's concerts are of the
first order, and a musical treat is
in store for all who avail themselves
of this opportunity of hearing him

CHURCH TO INSTALL DEACONS
FOR 17TH TIME IN 126 YEARS
Five Men to Be. Elevated in Market Square Presbyterian
Church Tomorrow; But 36 Deacons Have Held
Similar Office
The feature of the services in
Market Square Presbyterian Church
to-morrow will be the ordination
and Installation of the elders-elect.
Though this congregation is 126
years old this is but the seventeenth
time when such a service has been
held.
There have been but 36 men ele
vated to this office by this congrega
tion. To-morrow five new men will
be Inducted into office. Two of these
have been ordained in congregations
before coming to Harrisburg. The
other three w.'ll be ordained, and all
five will be installed. The men are

Union, one of the largest representa
tive bodies of young people in the
i State, is beginning preparations for
the entertainment of the State Chris
tian Endeavor convention in Phila
delphia on July 6-9, 1920.
Bert Erskine Rudolph has been
elected chairman of the convention
committee. He is a prominent En
deavor worker of the Philadelphia
Union. He has served as president
of the union, vice-president and dele
gate to the State convention held in
Harrisburg In 1916.

unusual Interest Sunday night. Many
of the young men and young women
who are home from college will
speak. The meeting will be full of
interest.
The choir will present special
musiq to-morrow. Much of it wi'l
preserve the flavor of the Christmas
days.

In the Olivet Presbyteriun Church,
the pastor, the Rev. S. A. Bower,
will preach an Old Year's Sermon
on Sunday morning, the theme of
which will be "Looking Back." The
pastor will review the great and out
standing events of the past year, and
show why the year 1919 will go
go down in history as a great year.
A special feature of the sermon
will be the lessons of God's Provi
dential dealings with the Nations
and his people as discerned from
the history of the past year.
In the evening the minister will
preach a New Year's Sermon, en
titled "Looking Forward." The pas
tor will point out the great advant
age the Christian has in looking for
ward with confidence to the coming
New Year because he knows that
God who has led him thus far on
the journey of life will not desert
liim now. That all things work to
gether for good to the child of God,
and therefore the year 1920 can hold
no terrors for him.
The Christian Endeavor Society
will hold a Watch Night service on
Wednesday night at 11 o'clock. G.
L. Cullmerv will lead the service.

"What to Believe About
the Other Life"
At Pine Street Presbyterian Church
on Sunday the pastor. Dr. Lewis
Seymour Mudgc, will preach morning
and evening. The subject of the
morning sermon will be "What to
Believe About the Other Life." This
sermon will be the last In the series
on the general subject of "What to
Believe and Why." On Sunday eve
ning the subject of the sermon will
be "The Great Christmas Carols"—•
the "Magnificat," "Gloria in Exeel
sis" and "Nunc Dimittis." The
church quartet, assisted by the
chorus of selected voices which pre
sented the Christmas music last Sun
day, will render each of these carols
as they have been set to music by
the composers. This service will be
a Christmas aftermath, of praise.
The regular evening song service
will be held in the Boyd Memorial
Building after the church service.
On Monday evening the Bethanv
Chapel Sunday School will hold its
annual Christmas service at 7.50
o'clock at the chapel. On Wednes
day evening the usual midweek serv
| ice will be held in the lecture room
lat 7.45 o'clock. The pastor will
preach on "The Christ "We Forget—
His Apostles." At 10 o'clock on
