Getting Mills in Shape
For Reopening
Youngstown, Ohio, Oct. 10. —
Mechanics who yesterday began pre
paring the Trumbull Steel Company
plant at Warren for operation, fol
lowing the decision of employes to
return to work, to-day continued
their task of getting the mills in
shape for capacity production on
Monday morning.
Following the action of Warren
members of the Amalgamated Asso
ciation of Iron, Steel and Tin Work
ers in engineering a settlement, mill
officials now are expecting moves
from amalgamated men of other
companies, which have agreements
with the union. At strike headquar
ters, however, it was said that the
Trumbull settlement was regarded
as purely a local affair and would
not affect the strike generally.
Activity continued to-day in other
mills here, notably the Youngstown
Sheet and Tube Company, the it rler
Hill Steel Company and the Carne
gie Steel Company. At none of these
plants, however, has production yet
been attempted.

ment in the labor situation. During
the last twenty-four hours the en
tire district was calm, except half a
dozen- shots were fired from ambush
at Federal soldiers at Gary, Ind.
Federal activities against radical
leaders in the strike area pro
gressed and State militiamen con
tinued their drive against alleged il
licit saloons at Indiana Harbor, Ind.
